Where are you based?
The Record Collection is based in Bath, Somerset
How far will you travel to an event or function?
We are happy to travel to your event, but if you’re more than 25 miles from Bath this will be reflected in the cost. Please contact us with as many details as you can provide and we’ll be happy to give you a quote.
What does it cost to book The Record Collection?
Our costs are tailored for each specific event, there are many factors which we take into account when supplying a price, for example: Location, venue, set-up and finish times and type of event. Please contact us for a quotation. We do our best to cater for all budgets.
How long do you play for?
Usually we play 2 x 45min sets, as we find this works best for the audience. We also play 2 x 1 hour sets or even 3 x 40 minute sets. The band can perform for longer if required, but this will be reflected in the price. We are happy to accommodate any needs or requirements as we want your event to go as you have planned!
Do you play themed events?
Yes, we can tailor our setlist to meet most requirements. We have a wide repertoire that allows us to play 70s events, if you love a bit of disco, or 80s events if you just can’t get enough Wham in your life.
Do you have your own PA system and lights?
Yes we have access to a selection of PA systems meaning we can provide the most suitable equipment for the venues we play in. We have a selection of LED lighting rigs as well to brighten up any event. If your venue is particularly big or you have particular sound or lighting requirements then we have external contacts we use to provide a much wider range of equipment.
Can you supply backing music before/after your set?
Yes, we have suitable playlists for while the band is not playing. This would be played through our PA system and is an unattended playlist, meaning we don’t have a live DJ. You also have the option of providing your own playlist on an mp3 player or similar if you would prefer your own choice of music to be used or if you would like a full DJ disco experience then just let us know and we can sort all of this out for you.
What time do you arrive to set up?
It takes around an hour and a half to set the equipment up properly and sound check. We always aim to be setup and sound checked and out of the room before your guests arrive, but we know this isn’t always possible. With some wedding venues the room needs to be cleared after your meal before we can gain access. This is something we can discuss in more detail with you nearer to the event.
How much space do you need?
We can perform with or without staging, indoors or outdoors. If we are to perform on a stage, the ideal stage area we require to perform comfortably is around 18ft by 12ft. If we’re playing without a stage we need about 15ft by 10ft.
Do you supply a written contract?
Yes. Once all the details have been agreed, we will email a contract to you. You just need to return a signed copy to us together with your deposit to confirm the booking. Around 7-10 before the event we get in touch with final details confirming our arrival time and checking that the venue are aware we’re coming and that you’ve made arrangements for storage of equipment.
Do you have a crazy rider, like wanting chilled Evian available?
No, we’re not that diva-ish
Our rider is very low key and just includes basics like providing food and drinks and a secure room for us to get changed in. A lot of these depend on the style and type of event but we’ll be sure to explain everything when you book. We don’t like red M&Ms though, just in case you were going to provide some.
Can we see you perform before we book?
Many of our performances are for private events, but please see our band news page for any public events coming up. Alternatively, we have demos and recordings on the website for you to see.
